WWE OWNER VINCE MCMAHON ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT - CelebrityDose

In the midst of an investigation into a sexual misconduct controversy, WWE owner Vince McMahon has announced his retirement.

The Wall Street Journal reports that McMahon paid $4 women $12 million to conceal up sexual misconduct and infidelity.

The Wall Street Journal initially disclosed the company's probe into a $3 million payment McMahon agreed to pay a former employee he had an affair with.

McMahon stated in a statement that as he nears 77, he feels it's time to resign as Chairman and CEO.

McMahon and Donald Trump, who would later become president, squared off in a 2007 "Battle of The Billionaires" event.

McMahon, a wrestling commentator and on-screen celebrity, stepped down as CEO and chairman in June pending the investigation's outcome.

WWE recorded record revenue of $1.1 billion and net income of $180.4 million last year, mostly from selling intellectual rights.
